GROUNDSKEEPING INTERNSHIP

The Burlington Bees are members of the Prospect Collegiate Summer Baseball League. The Bees have hosted baseball, at a variety of levels, since 1889, including minor league baseball from 1952 to 2020. We present a fan-friendly, family-oriented product, which operates at the highest professional level.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The groundskeeping intern reports directly to the head groundskeeper. Successful interns will use their experience and knowledge to prepare and maintain a high quality, safe and aesthetically pleasing playing surface. They will prepare and present a pleasant, groomed stadium and grounds, which enhances our fans’ experience.

Duties include (but are not limited to) assisting the Head Groundskeeper in the following areas:

  • Mowing.
  • Stadium and Grounds Landscaping Maintenance.
  • Facility Maintenance.
  • Equipment Maintenance.
  • Proper Storage of Supplies and Tools.
  • General Playing Field Maintenance.
  • Gameday Field Preparation and In-game Field Maintenance.

START DATE

Start in mid-May and end in the first week of August (start and finish dates are flexible).

HOURS

Full time. Non-game day: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, Game days: 8:00 AM through end of the game/event. Times may vary. Expect to work weekends and special events.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Your housing and all utilities are paid for. The team provides a free meal each home game. $200 a month stipend. Membership to the local YMCA.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be pursuing a degree in Turf Management or related field of study. The physical demands described here are representative of those which must be met by an intern candidate to successfully complete the goals and purpose of the internship. While performing the duties of this internship, the intern will be regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The intern is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and move quickly. The intern is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The intern must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this internship include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
